FOREVER EARTH DAY CELEBRATED
Phoenix, Arizona, April 25, 2005 - Forever Earth Day was celebrated last week with clean ups and events held at numerous Forever Resorts operations across the United States. Some of the highlights of Forever Earth Day include:
Callville Bay Marina, Lake Mead, Nevada -
Lake Mead Clean Up Volunteers were shuttled out to designated coves from Callville Bay Marina aboard luxury Forever Houseboats for beach clean up. After the lake shore clean up a complimentary barbeque lunch for all the volunteers was hosted by Forever Resorts, KSNE and KWNR. Other sponsors of the Forever Earth event were Sinclair Oil and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National Environmental Performance Track.
Donations collected from the Forever Earth Day event went to benefit the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. In addition to a day of helping to keep Lake Mead clean, each of the volunteers were entered to win one of several prizes generously donated by KSNE, KWNR, and Forever Resorts including Black Canyon River Adventure raft trips, a powerboat rental from Callville Bay Marina and the grand prize, a weekend Forever Houseboat vacation on Lake Mead was won by Maria Avila of Henderson, Nevada.
Rocky Mountain Park Company - Trail Ridge Store and the Rocky Mountain Park Holiday Inn - Forever Earth Day was celebrated as a joint effort with Estes Park's Intermediate School Earth Day celebration. Forever Resorts Team members included Bob Van Nest, Sloan Richardson, Susie Boaz, Denise Dunn, and Julie Cuklanz who participated in handing out canvas tote bags and educational bookmarks to the students of Estes Park's 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade classes.
Craig Belshe, Estes Park Intermediate School principal commented on the Forever Earth Day event: "We are excited about our partnership for our Earth Day celebration with the Holiday Inn of Estes Park and
Forever Resorts. Most of the credit for our school's celebration goes to our custodian, Mr. Tim McDonald and our Art Instructor, Ms. Nicole Haskins. We are working to foster the development of people who will
be environmentally conscious for our future."
Tim McDonald was in charge of the event who prepared a hillside adjacent to the school for sewing of wildflower seeds and bulbs. Each child got to grab a handful of seeds and spread them along the hillside near the school. Nearly 300 tote bags were imprinted with the Estes Park Holiday Inn logo and Earth Day Every Day and were distributed to the students. A short presentation was given by the Forever Team to show the children how the canvas bags can be re-used to prevent waste and litter at home. Educational bookmarks were also given to the students and their teachers to commemorate Forever Earth Day. The kids enjoyed it, but the Forever Team enjoyed it more and is looking forward to making this an annual event.
